We believe that "Research" and "Innovation" are two independent concepts like two dimensions in space but there is a strong mutualism between these two.
According to Frascati (2002) Research comprises "creative work undertaken on a systematic basis in order to increase the stock of knowledge, including knowledge of humans, culture and society, and the use of this stock of knowledge to devise new applications Innovation, on the other hand, can be defined simply as a "new idea, device or method".However, innovation is often also viewed as the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated needs, or existing market needs. These two concepts are usually confused. For instance, Facebook does not require too much research but the idea of social media is very innovative and now billions of people are communicating with each other over various social media platforms. Pure research itself is also very valuable but if research outputs are not converted to an added value and not used by stakeholders, it means that innovation behind is weak.
From our point of view, these two concepts should meet at the following common concepts:
-creativity and invention
-scientific excellence
-application to industry
-commercialization or minimization of costs (fiscal impact)
-social or cultural impact
-environmental impact
In line with our vision we concentrate on real life solutions by fulfilling the following steps:
-We identify needs and/or opportunities
-We create new ideas
-We research and invent
-We realize by prototyping and/or proof of concept
-We apply it for industry or real life processes
-We develop a business strategy to reach more users
-We promote our solution
-We contribute to literature and disseminate our knowledge
-We evaluate feedbacks and re-iterate again.
